A peaceful sanctuary for rescued donkeys, mules, and horses
Since 2020, Nos Amis Pour La Vie has been taking in and protecting dogs in need in Marrakech. But our mission doesn’t stop there.
Over the years, we have also opened our doors to horses that have been abandoned, abused, or exploited.
The sanctuary's first rescue was Pépita
Unfortunately, suffering among equines is widespread. Many of them spend their lives working under difficult conditions. When they become too old, injured, or exhausted, they are often abandoned and left without care.
The sanctuary’s first rescue was Pépita, a donkey found in alarming condition, with a severely injured leg and a twisted hoof. We cared for her and looked after her for nearly four years, before she finally found a loving family in Marrakech.
Since that first rescue, our commitment to equines has continued to grow. Today, the sanctuary is home to 2 horses, 2 mules, and 8 donkeys. Each of them has a story—one often marked by suffering, but also by incredible resilience.
When they arrive here, we do everything we can to help them find the peace, safety, and dignity they deserve.

A beautiful, peaceful life far from pain and exploitation
At the sanctuary, our horses live freely, all together, in a peaceful environment where they can finally rest and enjoy life.
They receive a balanced diet, regular care, and daily attention from our team. Our goal is simple: to give them a wonderful, peaceful life free from pain and exploitation.
Whenever possible, we also try to find them responsible and caring families. Several equines have already been adopted in Marrakech. Donkeys that once suffered and were abandoned now live in beautiful gardens.
Help us build the sanctuary's new stables
Caring for a horse requires significant resources. Between hay, veterinary care, farrier services, and daily upkeep, the average cost for a horse is about 150 € per month.
Thanks to your donations, these animals can finally experience rest, safety, and the comfort of a protected life.
